This is my second film starring Gosling in two days. And a bloody good one! Refn’s film deeply evoked influences from Wong Kar-Wai and Michael Mann, particularly “Thief” and other ’80s crime flicks like Friedkin’s “To Live and Die in L.A.”. The soundtrack, a throwback to the Euro synth-pop of the ’80s, is just gorgeous.
